NiuBoL NBL-ORP-206 is an online ORP sensor designed for industrial environments. It adopts RS485 Modbus-RTU protocol, features extremely high anti-interference capability and a reference system with a lifespan of more than 20 months. It is suitable for environmental water treatment, chemical pharmaceuticals and industrial process monitoring, providing system integrators with high-stability and easy-maintenance water quality monitoring solutions.
Long-life patented reference system: Unique positive micro-porous exudation technology, with exudation lasting more than 20 months, extending electrode life by 2-3 times.
Dual high-impedance differential amplifier: Deep anti-interference circuit design ensures millisecond-level response in complex electromagnetic environments.
Industrial-grade easy integration: Standard RS485 Modbus-RTU protocol seamlessly connects with PLC, DCS and industrial host computer systems.
In industrial process control and environmental water quality monitoring, Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP) is a key indicator for measuring the oxidizing or reducing strength of a solution. However, traditional ORP sensors often suffer from numerical drift, electrode poisoning or frequent maintenance when facing high pressure, high corrosion or complex electromagnetic interference.
The NiuBoL NBL-ORP-206 online ORP sensor is designed to solve the above challenges. It integrates high-precision platinum electrode measurement technology and industrial digital communication technology, using a corrosion-resistant ABS/PC alloy shell and IP68 protection design to ensure stable performance in harsh acid, alkali, salt solutions and industrial production lines. For system integrators and engineering contractors, the NBL-ORP-206 is not only a sensor, but also an industrial-grade measurement component with low maintenance cost and high data reliability, helping you quickly build an efficient real-time water quality monitoring system.
The common problem with traditional industrial ORP electrodes is that the internal reference solution is lost too quickly, leading to electrode failure. The patented electrode structure developed by NiuBoL allows the internal reference solution to exude extremely slowly through the micro-porous salt bridge under pressure of no less than 100KPa. Its positive exudation cycle can stably last more than 20 months. This feature greatly extends the service cycle of the sensor on industrial production lines and reduces the frequency of downtime maintenance.
Industrial sites are usually filled with frequency converters, high-power motors and complex wiring. Electromagnetic interference is the "natural enemy" of water quality monitoring. The NBL-ORP-206 integrates a dual high-impedance differential amplifier inside, effectively reducing common-mode interference through differential sampling technology, significantly shortening response time (T90 < 30s), and ensuring the capture of instantaneous potential fluctuations in dynamically changing reaction tanks.
The sensor adopts the standard RS-485 Modbus-RTU digital protocol. Compared with traditional analog signals (4-20mA), digital signals have stronger long-distance transmission capability and anti-noise ability. It can be directly connected to various general controllers, paperless recorders or touch screens, supports bus-type deployment, and greatly reduces wiring costs and configuration difficulty of system integration.
The shell is made of high-strength ABS/PC alloy with excellent mechanical properties and chemical corrosion resistance. Combined with overall encapsulation technology, the protection level reaches IP68. Whether in high-humidity, dusty environments or completely submerged in water, the NBL-ORP-206 can maintain sealing performance and prevent internal circuit damage.

In denitrification, phosphorus removal and disinfection processes, precise control of aeration volume or chemical dosing is achieved by monitoring ORP values, realizing energy saving and emission reduction.
Monitor the oxidation-reduction state during chemical reactions to ensure the reaction proceeds in a safe and efficient range and prevent the generation of by-products.
Real-time monitoring of the reduction treatment effect of chromium-containing wastewater and oxidation treatment effect of cyanide-containing wastewater to ensure that emissions comply with environmental protection regulations.
Evaluate the risk of microbial growth in the system and the use efficiency of bactericides to prevent pipeline corrosion and scaling.
Angle requirement: To ensure normal contact of the internal electrolyte of the electrode, the sensor must not be installed upside down or horizontally. The installation angle should maintain an inclination of at least 15 degrees from the horizontal plane.
Mechanical interface: Adopts standard 3/4NPT pipe thread, which can be directly screwed into pipelines, tanks or used with submersible brackets.

The sensor uses 4-core twisted shielded wire. The wiring definition is as follows:
Red wire: Power positive (12 to 24V DC)
Black wire: Power ground (GND)
Blue wire: RS-485A
White wire: RS-485B
Note: Please confirm the wiring sequence before powering on to avoid damage to sensor electronic components due to incorrect connection. Since the site environment may involve corrosive media, professional waterproof and anti-corrosion treatment must be performed on all wiring joints.
Q1. What is the expected service life of the NiuBoL NBL-ORP-206 sensor?
A: In standard industrial water quality environments, due to its patented reference solution exudation system, the physical life of the electrode can usually reach more than 2 years. Actual life depends on the corrosiveness of the measured medium, pressure and cleaning maintenance frequency.
Q2. Why does this sensor emphasize "cannot be installed horizontally"?
A: Because the ORP electrode contains reference solution and platinum sensing end, inclined installation ensures full contact between the reference system and the sensing end, and uses gravity and pressure gradient to maintain micro-positive exudation of the electrolyte.
Q3. How far can the RS485 output signal be transmitted?
A: Using the standard RS485 Modbus protocol, the theoretical transmission distance can reach 1200 meters without a repeater. It is recommended to use shielded twisted pair for long-distance transmission to enhance anti-interference effect.
Q4. Does the sensor support automatic temperature compensation?
A: According to the technical specifications of NBL-ORP-206, this model focuses on precise measurement of the original potential value, mainly relying on high-performance platinum electrode method. For most ORP application scenarios, the potential value is less affected by temperature, so this model does not have built-in temperature compensation.
Q5. How often does the electrode need to be calibrated?
A: It is recommended to calibrate once a month for the first 3 months after initial installation and before use. After stable operation, routine calibration can be performed every 3-6 months according to on-site data drift.
Q6. If the measured value shows obvious jumping, what could be the reason?
A: Please check: 1. Whether the wiring is flooded or damp; 2. Whether there is strong leakage current or electrostatic interference in the environment; 3. Whether the electrode surface is attached with oil or protein film. If so, clean with alcohol.
Q7. Can this sensor measure solutions containing strong acids or strong alkalis?
A: Yes, NiuBoL sensors are designed for acid/alkali/salt environments. However, please note that the working pressure should be controlled at <= 0.2MPa and the temperature should not exceed 50°C to ensure long-term stability of the material.
Q8. How to store the sensor when not in use for a long time?
A: It is strictly prohibited to store the electrode dry. When not in use, it should be cleaned and inserted into a protective sleeve containing 3mol/L potassium chloride (KCl) solution to keep the sensing end of the electrode moist and active.
In water quality monitoring projects, the continuity and reliability of data depend on the quality of the underlying sensors. The NiuBoL NBL-ORP-206 effectively solves the problems of frequent maintenance and susceptibility to interference of traditional ORP sensors through innovative reference systems and industrial-grade circuit design. As a system integrator, choosing a sensor that balances performance and cost-effectiveness is the key to ensuring project delivery quality.
