Our 3-axis ultrasonic wind sensor is engineered for high-precision measurement of both horizontal and vertical wind components (U, V, W) using advanced ultrasonic transit-time technology. Built with a full metal housing and zero moving mechanical parts, it delivers outstanding durability, virtually maintenance-free operation, and excellent resistance to contamination and weathering. It’s ideal for demanding applications such as urban meteorological stations, wind-farm monitoring, bridge & tunnel airflow measurement, marine/port installations, airport wind assessment, and more.
The instrument uses three pairs of ultrasonic transducers spaced at fixed intervals. Each pair alternately emits and receives ultrasonic waves in both upstream and downstream directions. By accurately measuring the ultrasonic flight time difference caused by air movement, the device computes the wind-speed components along X, Y and Z axes. From these components it derives the magnitude of the wind vector (speed) and the wind direction—both horizontal (azimuth) and vertical (elevation).
This method offers higher reliability and faster response than traditional mechanical sensors and is virtually immune to icing or fouling.

Ideal mounting: top of meteorological mast or stand-alone pole, at least 2 m above local obstructions (trees, buildings, equipment).
Avoid mounting near radar or high-frequency emitters.
Ensure free air flow around the sensor—no nearby obstructions within twice the height of the sensor mounting point.
Align the 0° reference mark (marked on top of the instrument) to true north before tightening bolts. Secure with four stainless-steel bolts to the mounting bracket.
Use the aviation-style plug at the base; ensure proper strain relief of the cables to prevent motion or damage.
