Soiling Sensor PV - Photovoltaic Module Pollution Sensor Product Introduction 

Soiling Sensor PV is a professional sensor designed to monitor the pollution level on the surface of photovoltaic (PV) modules. It is suitable for both newly built and existing solar power plants. 

The device utilizes advanced blue light pollutant closed-loop measurement technology, which can be directly installed on the frame of the PV module to monitor in real-time the accumulation of pollutants on the glass surface. The sensor converts the pollution ratio (Soiling Ratio, SR) into power generation efficiency loss, providing accurate data for intelligent operation and maintenance (O&M) of the power plant.

Pollution is one of the key factors affecting the long-term performance of a PV system. By deploying the Soiling Sensor PV, the cleaning time can be accurately determined, improving the overall efficiency of the system. This product requires no additional maintenance; it only needs to have its probe cleaned when the PV panels are cleaned. 

What is a Soiling Sensor? 

A Soiling Sensor is a device that monitors the accumulation of pollutants on the surface of PV modules through optical detection technology. Its main purposes include: 

- Assessing the impact of pollution on power generation efficiency

- Intelligent determination of cleaning time to avoid resource waste

- Supporting remote operation and maintenance management systems for PV power plants

- Analyzing pollution trends in different environments 

Working Principle of Soiling Sensor 

The Soiling Sensor PV adopts a dual-sensor design, using an infrared optical photodiode to detect the difference in light reflection between polluted and clean areas. The built-in microcontroller processes the reflection intensity data and, based on the calibration model, accurately calculates the pollution level of the PV module.

Installation and Usage Instructions for Soiling Sensor 

1. Installation Location  

   Securely install the sensor on the upper or side frame of the PV module using the dedicated fixture, ensuring the sensor probe is on the same level as the glass surface of the module. 

2. Electrical Connections  

   Connect the RS485 communication cable and DC 12V power cable to the device interface. If only AC power is available on-site, an optional AC to DC 12V power adapter can be used. 

3. Device Calibration  

   After installation, it is recommended to perform calibration between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM on a sunny day. Clean the sensor lens, press and hold the calibration button for 10 seconds, and release it to complete the calibration. 

4. Daily Cleaning  

   Each time the PV modules are cleaned, both sensor probes should be cleaned simultaneously to ensure measurement accuracy.
