The NBL-W-21GUWS Ultrasonic Wind Speed & Direction Integrated Sensor is a fully digital and high-precision instrument designed to quickly and accurately measure wind speed and wind direction. Equipped with a built-in signal processing unit, it can output signals according to user requirements and optionally integrate additional elements such as temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, PM2.5, PM10, noise, solar radiation, and rainfall.

With a rugged structural design, the sensor ensures reliable operation in harsh weather conditions. It is widely used in meteorology, environmental monitoring, airports, ports, laboratories, industrial and agricultural applications, and transportation sectors.

Ultrasonic Wind Speed & Direction Integrated Sensor Working Principle 

The NBL-W-21GUWS sensor calculates wind speed and direction by measuring the ultrasonic transit time between the north–south (N-S) and west–east (W-E) transducer pairs. For example, when the wind blows from the north, the transit time from N to S will be shorter than from S to N, allowing accurate calculation of wind speed and direction. This method is not affected by temperature or other environmental factors.

1. Using our company’s data logger: Connect the sensor cable directly to the corresponding interface of the data logger.

2. Standalone sensor wiring: 

    Red: Power Supply +

    Black: Power Supply –

    Yellow: RS485+

    Blue: RS485– 

Note: Please follow the wiring labels on the cable for final reference.

 Avoid interference sources: Ensure the sensor is not affected by radio/radar transmitters, ship engines, or mechanical vibration sources.

 Do not install parallel to radar scanning devices; maintain at least a 2-meter distance.

 Avoid installation near trees, poles, or high-rise buildings that may cause airflow disturbances.

 Recommended height: 10 meters above ground in open areas, or 1.5 times the building height, avoiding obstruction overlap.

Installation Standards (per WMO recommendations)

In open areas, installation height should be above 10 meters from ground level, free of obstructions.

Sensor should be placed away from surrounding buildings and vibration sources to ensure measurement accuracy.
