Understanding the Measurement Data

ParameterWhat It IndicatesImportant Consideration
TemperatureRoot-zone thermal conditionUseful for comparing locations and sampling periods
MoistureVolumetric soil water conditionGood soil-to-probe contact improves repeatability
ECOverall electrical conductivity of dissolved ionsInfluenced by moisture, salts and fertilizer concentration
SalinitySalt-concentration reference valueUseful mainly for comparison and trend monitoring
N / P / KEmpirical nutrient reference valuesNot equivalent to laboratory nutrient analysis
pHSoil acidity / alkalinityMeasurement consistency depends on soil conditions and probe contact

Important Information About NPK Measurement

The NPK channels are intended for rapid field reference and comparative monitoring.

The sensor obtains N, P and K reference values from soil electrical conductivity and corresponding empirical conversion factors. Soil composition, moisture, salinity and local environmental conditions can influence the resulting values.

ApplicationPortable NPK Reading
Rapid Field ComparisonSuitable
Trend MonitoringSuitable
Comparing Different Sampling PointsSuitable under comparable conditions
Laboratory-Accurate Nutrient QuantificationNot intended for this purpose
Precise Fertilizer FormulationShould not be used as the sole data source

Important Measurement Limitations & Disclaimer

1. NPK Measurement Limitations

The nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) values generated by this sensor are empirical estimates derived from soil electrical characteristics and conversion algorithms. They are not obtained through direct chemical analysis and should not be considered accurate measurements of actual soil nutrient concentrations.

NPK readings can be significantly influenced by soil moisture, salinity, electrical conductivity, soil composition, and other environmental factors. The displayed values may differ substantially from laboratory analysis results.

These NPK values are intended for general reference only and must not be used as the basis for fertilizer dosage calculations, soil fertility diagnosis, crop selection, or planting decisions.

For accurate determination of soil N, P, and K, laboratory chemical analysis is required.

2. Soil pH Measurement Limitations

The integrated soil pH measurement is designed primarily for general field reference.

The pH measurement accuracy is limited compared with professional, properly calibrated glass-electrode pH instruments. The specified accuracy of this integrated sensor is ±1 pH.

Consequently, the displayed pH values should not be regarded as laboratory-grade results or used as the sole basis for soil acidity correction, lime application, or other agricultural decisions requiring precise pH measurements.

For accurate soil pH analysis, a calibrated glass-electrode pH meter or a qualified soil-testing laboratory is recommended.

3. Important Notice for Agricultural Use

  • NPK and pH readings are intended for preliminary field reference only.

  • Do not rely on these readings alone for fertilization, crop management, planting decisions, or other agricultural applications requiring accurate soil chemical analysis.

  • For professional agricultural management, users should conduct appropriate laboratory soil testing and consult qualified agricultural specialists.

4. Disclaimer

NiuBoL does not guarantee that the integrated NPK and pH reference values are equivalent to laboratory analysis results or suitable for precision fertilization and agricultural decision-making. Users are responsible for independently verifying soil nutrient and pH conditions before taking agricultural action. To the extent permitted by applicable law, NiuBoL shall not be liable for crop losses, fertilizer misapplication, or other consequential losses resulting from reliance on these reference values outside their intended use. This disclaimer does not affect applicable statutory rights.
