NiuBoL Successfully Exports 7-in-1 Soil Sensor and Radar Level Meter to Portugal, Supporting Local Precision Agriculture and Water Resource Management

NiuBoL recently announced that its independently developed 7-in-1 integrated soil sensor and 77GHz FMCW radar level meter have been successfully exported to the Portuguese market. This batch of high-performance sensor products will be applied in Portuguese vineyards, irrigation systems, and water resource monitoring projects, further promoting the digital transformation of local agriculture.

Portugal is a country located in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. It boasts a long agricultural tradition and diverse terrain and climatic conditions (primarily Mediterranean climate, with hot and dry summers in the southern and inland regions). Agriculture is an important pillar of the Portuguese economy, contributing approximately 1.6% to GDP. Key industries include wine, olive oil, cereals, fruits, and vegetables. Among them, grape cultivation and wine production are particularly prominent. Portugal is one of Europe’s significant wine-producing countries, with renowned grape-growing regions such as Alentejo and Douro.

In recent years, influenced by climate change, Portugal has frequently faced droughts and water resource shortages. Agricultural water consumption accounts for over 80% of the country’s total water usage, which has driven the rapid development of precision agriculture, water-saving irrigation, and intelligent water resource management technologies. Through the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) strategic plan, the government supports sustainable agriculture, digital transformation, and organic farming, encouraging the adoption of IoT sensors, remote monitoring, and other technologies to improve water use efficiency and crop yields.

The 7-in-1 integrated soil sensor combines multiple parameters—including soil temperature, moisture, electrical conductivity, nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium (NPK), and pH—into a single device. It accurately reflects true soil moisture content through the dielectric constant principle and is suitable for soil moisture monitoring, water-saving irrigation, greenhouses, precision agriculture, and other scenarios. Its application in Portugal is particularly well-suited to the country’s frequent drought challenges in agriculture. In vineyards, olive groves, and fruit and vegetable planting areas, it can monitor soil moisture and nutrient status in real time, helping farmers optimize irrigation scheduling, reduce water waste, apply fertilizer precisely, and prevent soil salinization or nutrient loss caused by over-irrigation. The sensor features RS485 communication, a waterproof and corrosion-resistant design, and easy installation, making it ideal for long-term outdoor deployment. It supports scientific experiments and integration with intelligent irrigation systems, enhancing the quality and yield of crops such as grapes while aligning with the EU’s sustainable agriculture goals.

The radar level meter (Radar Level Meter, 77-79GHz FMCW technology) is a non-contact, high-precision water level measurement device with a measuring range of 0.15m to 65m, 1mm resolution, minimal blind zone, and strong anti-interference capability. It has an IP67 protection rating and is suitable for water level monitoring in rivers, irrigation canals, reservoirs, dams, and similar environments. In Portugal, it can be widely used for large dam and reservoir management, irrigation channel water level monitoring, river flood early warning, and agricultural water allocation systems. Installed vertically to avoid interference, it ensures accurate data transmission via RS485, helping water authorities and farmers monitor water resource dynamics in real time, achieve precise water distribution and water-saving scheduling—especially in the drought-prone southern regions—and support sustainable irrigation and flood management.

“Portuguese agriculture is actively embracing smart technologies to cope with water resource pressures caused by climate change. We are delighted to contribute the power of Chinese intelligent manufacturing to local farmers and water departments through these two products,” said a company spokesperson. “These sensors feature low power consumption, easy installation, and stable transmission, perfectly matching Portugal’s outdoor agricultural environment and helping achieve more efficient and sustainable agricultural production.”

This export marks a further expansion of NiuBoL in the European market. The company will continue to focus on IoT sensor R&D to serve global needs in precision agriculture and environmental protection.
