FAQ – Data & Measurement

Q1: How does the sensor upload data?

A: The data is transmitted via the RS485 interface to the data collector(Data logger), which then uploads it to the cloud platform via 4G/3G/wired network or WiFi.

Q2: How does Lorawan transmit data?

A: The sensor sends data wirelessly to the Lorawan gateway, which then uploads the data to the platform via WiFi or cellular network.

Q3: How long after installation can data be read?

A: Data can be read approximately 10-30 seconds after installation. For stability, it is recommended to wait 5-10 minutes before reading.

Q4: What is the detection range of a soil sensor?

A: The sensor only detects soil parameters around the probe and cannot cover a large area.

Q5: How does the rain gauge calculate cumulative rainfall?

A: The reading value is the cumulative value between two measurement intervals. The data must be recorded by the collector and accumulated manually. Power outages will reset the data.

Q6: How to convert 4-20mA signal to temperature/humidity value?

Formula:

Parameter value = (Current value – 4mA) ÷ 16mA × (Range upper limit – Range lower limit) + Range lower limit

For example: Temperature range -50~100℃, Current 10mA → Temperature = (10–4)/16×150–50 = 6.25℃

Q7: How to test a 4-20mA signal?

A: Use a multimeter, connect the red probe to the signal line and the black probe to the power negative. Set the meter to the 20mA measurement range.

Q8: Can sensor data be accessed via a phone or computer?

A: Yes, but you will need a compatible cloud platform or use our platform.

Q9: How to avoid communication conflicts when connecting multiple sensors?

A: Set different Slave IDs for each sensor and ensure the communication interval is ≥1000ms.

Q10: Are there any recommended testing software?

A: It is recommended to use tools like Modbus Poll or ModbusCan for data debugging.

Q12: Can the moisture in silica sand be measured?

A: No, because the sand is not compact and does not dissolve in water, preventing the formation of an effective dielectric constant change.
