In project acceptance, bidding and scientific research projects, people often regard "having a test report", "having a calibration certificate" and "factory qualified" as the same thing. They prove different contents, and bidding and scientific research projects must first clearly define the requirements of acceptance documents.
It is used to indicate that the product has passed the production and functional inspection specified by the manufacturer and is suitable for general quality control. It does not automatically certify that measurements can be traced back to national or international metrological standards.
Third-party test reports are issued by independent institutions based on designated standards or test items. Common test items include precision, protection level, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Whether the report is applicable to bidding, the qualification of the testing organization, test standards, product model and scope of application of the report should be checked.
Calibration emphasizes the magnitude-value relationship and traceability between the instrument under test and the reference standard. It is often used in projects with high measurement credibility requirements such as wind speed, radiation, temperature and humidity, and pressure. Calibration certificates are not equivalent to product certifications.
Match each technical requirement to a specific model, datasheet, third-party report or calibration certificate, and indicate the test conditions. This prevents the device from discovering that a certain precision or IP term requires third-party proof after it has been manufactured.
Q1: The manual describes the accuracy, is it equal to having a calibration certificate?
A1: Not equal to. The specification is the product specification, and the calibration certificate is the calibration result of a specific device or model under the reference standard.
Q2: Can I provide only the manufacturer's report when the tender requires a third-party certificate?
A2: Generally no, it should be prepared in accordance with the clear requirements of the tender documents for institutional qualifications and document types.
