Difference between Probe Soil PH Sensor and Glass Electric Soil PH Sensor

Time:2024-03-06 22:01:50 Popularity:85

Probe Soil PH Sensor and Glass Electric Soil PH Sensor are two different types of sensors used to measure soil PH, and there are the following differences between them:

1. PH sensor principle:

   - Probe soil pH sensors typically measure soil pH by immersing it in the soil and using electrochemical methods.

When the soil pH sensor is inserted into the soil, the electrode comes into contact with the soil and the zinc probe reacts with the hydrogen ions in the soil. This reaction creates an electrical potential that is proportional to the concentration of hydrogen ions in the soil, and by measuring the difference between the potentials of these two probes, the soil pH sensor can determine the acidity or alkalinity of the soil, or pH.

   - The glass electrical soil PH sensor, on the other hand, uses a similar principle to that of a glass electrode PH meter. It contains a glass membrane and a reference electrode, and determines the PH value of the soil by immersing it in the soil and measuring the exchange of hydrogen ions between the glass electrode and the soil.

2. Range of PH sensor use:

   - Probe type soil PH sensors are usually used for rapid outdoor soil measurements for agriculture, horticulture and other fields.

   - Glass electric soil PH sensor is more suitable for laboratory or precision measurement environment, which can provide more accurate measurement results.

3. Accuracy and stability:

   - Due to different principles and designs, glass electric soil PH sensors usually have higher accuracy and stability, and are suitable for experiments and researches that require higher PH values.

   - Soil probe PH sensors, although simple to operate, may be affected by impurities in the soil during long-term use, resulting in a loss of accuracy.

Overall, the choice of soil PH sensor should be decided according to the specific use requirements and scenarios, the glass electric soil PH sensor is suitable for precision environments such as laboratories, while the soil probe PH sensor is suitable for rapid outdoor soil measurements.
