How to choose RTU? What functions should RTU have?

RTU, the full name of English is Remote Terminal Units, and the full name of Chinese is Remote Terminal Units. It is the basic unit of SCADA system. RTU should have at least the following functions: field signal and industrial equipment monitoring, control and alarm. For example: data acquisition and processing, on-site control, data transmission (network communication), on-site and remote alarms, etc.; for oil and gas field applications, some RTUs also have a series of metering functions for specific application areas, such as flow accumulation.

How to choose RTU?

1. According to the needs of the project, select the interface of the connected sensor, such as RS485 interface, 4-20mA interface and so on.

2. Whether the collection and transmission functions are required to be separated or integrated. If there is no clear requirement, the editor recommends using an all-in-one machine, so that the collection and transmission will be controlled by the same CPU, and the reliability will be higher.

3. The more functions are not the better, as long as the requirements are met, the more functions, the more the fault points, and it costs electricity and the price will be higher.

4. A general-purpose RTU must meet 4G (or NB) communication functions, such as acquisition, counting, control, storage, alarm, etc.

5. With industrial design, the equipment can work normally at high temperature or low temperature

What functions should RTU have?  

(1) Collect status data and send it to a remote place, with photoelectric isolation, and priority transmission of remote signal displacement;

(2) Collect data volume and send it to a remote place, with photoelectric isolation;

(3) Collect pulse electrical measurement and send it to a remote place, with photoelectric isolation;

(4) Receive and execute remote control and return to school;

(5) Program self-recovery;

(6) Channel monitoring;

(7) Receive and execute remote adjustment;

(8) Receive and execute time calibration commands

(9) Communicate with two or more master stations;

(10) Provide multiple analog interfaces;

(11) Remote/local settings can be made for each interface feature;

(12) Accept remote commands and choose to send various types of information;

(13) The telecontrol information of multiple sub-stations can be forwarded;
