Quick Answer: An aquaculture water quality sensor package quotation should identify the exact measuring channels, useful accuracy, included hardware and service responsibilities. Equal parameter counts do not make two offers equivalent. Compare the configured NiuBoL assembly with the required farm measurements, power supply and maintenance arrangement before comparing the total price.

A package described as "pH, DO and ammonia" leaves important questions unanswered. Which DO model is included? What does the nitrogen channel actually report? Does temperature come from the same measurement point? Are the logger, local alarm and installation hardware supplied or only shown in a system illustration?
Ask each supplier to return one line per channel containing model, measured quantity, units, range, accuracy expression and installation point. This reveals differences hidden by a combined system name. Keep an optional channel separate from one included in the price, and identify calculated outputs separately from physical measurements.
For aquaculture, ammonia-related wording deserves particular attention. An ammonium electrode, a TAN analysis and a calculated un-ionized ammonia value are not identical deliverables. A nitrite requirement also needs its own supported method and instrument; it is not fulfilled by adding another nitrogen label to the dashboard.
The NiuBoL multiparameter self-cleaning assembly offers several configurable channels. The following examples describe that assembly's specifications, not a universal specification for separate standalone probes.
| Channel or system item | Specification to compare in the offer |
|---|---|
| DO option | 0-20 mg/L; 0.01 mg/L resolution; +/-0.4 mg/L accuracy |
| pH option | 0-14 pH; 0.01 pH resolution; +/-0.1 pH accuracy |
| Ammonia nitrogen option | 0-100 or 0-1000 mg/L; 0.1 mg/L resolution; +/-10% or +/-2 mg/L. Confirm the reporting species, percentage basis and how the accuracy terms apply. |
| Temperature | 0-50 degrees C; 0.1 degrees C resolution; +/-0.5 degrees C accuracy |
| Communication | RS485 Modbus RTU; confirm the fitted channel map |
| Supply / consumption | 12 V DC +/-5%; 5 W at 12 V. Confirm the required current margin during cleaning and startup. |
| Cleaning / cable | Automatic cleaning; standard 5 m cable, other lengths customizable. Confirm cleaning mechanism, mounting and cable jacket suitability. |
The 2 mg/L absolute term in the ammonia specification must be considered before accepting a proposal for a low-level action margin. A 0.1 mg/L display increment does not establish sufficient certainty for every aquaculture risk decision. Where the proposed channel cannot support the required decision, specify an appropriate analytical alternative instead of accepting a misleading alarm claim.
The ammonia probe pictured below is a separate assembly. Do not transfer its specifications to the fitted multiparameter element, or vice versa, without identifying the actual model in the quotation.

| Quotation item | What must be explicit |
|---|---|
| Sensing assembly | Fitted channels, model numbers, replacement elements and relevant water/material limits |
| Mounting and retrieval | Holder, support, access and how the assembly returns to the accepted measuring position after service |
| Power distribution | Actual voltage at the equipment, conversion where required, protection and the complete connected load |
| Logging and telemetry | Storage, acquisition timestamps, data validity, gateway and any recurring connection charges |
| Farm response | Whether local warning or control is included and how it interacts with existing aeration equipment |
| Verification and service | Reference materials, initial checks, replacement consumables and work included in commissioning |
A 12 V +/-5% assembly should not be connected directly to a nominal 24 V sensor supply. Conversely, a standalone probe's 12-24 V input range does not apply automatically to the integrated body. Resolve the cabinet supply and cable voltage drop before comparing installation costs.
The stated 5 W also differs from the roughly 0.2 W figures of certain standalone probes. For illustration, a continuous 5 W load uses 120 Wh over 24 hours, before adding telemetry or other equipment. Confirm the actual operating duty and peak demand; this arithmetic is not a battery-autonomy promise.
Assign each included channel to an operating question at a named point. A package for the production pond may not also cover an inlet-treatment unit or recirculation return. If different points are needed, consider separate probes or assemblies connected to the same logger rather than assuming one body observes them all.
The chlorine probe below may be relevant to a separately designed incoming-water treatment check. It is not a substitute for DO, pH, ammonia or nitrite monitoring in the production water, and it should not be added to a farm package without a defined measurement duty.

Ask what happens when one element requires cleaning, checking or replacement. Can the remaining channels continue, or must the whole body be retrieved? What temporary measurements and operating procedures cover that interruption? Shared access may simplify a visit, but the consequences depend on the actual design.
List consumables by fitted element rather than buying a generic spare kit. An optical DO cap and an ion-selective electrode have different handling and verification needs. Request current availability and service terms in the offer; do not infer a fixed life or delivery promise from the package name.
The broader integrated-versus-separate monitoring guide covers physical architecture. For this quotation, the useful output is a comparable list of included channels, installed hardware and servicing work, not the largest number of displayed parameters.
A turbidity channel, illustrated below, is another optional measurement. Add it when particle trends support a defined farm decision; it does not identify algae or replace a nitrogen analysis.

No. Compare the fitted elements, verification work, service access and replacement scope. An unused channel still adds maintenance, while a missing required analysis remains a gap.
No. Nitrite is a different analytical quantity. Identify its method and instrument separately, or explicitly record that it is outside the package scope.
No. Assess its stated accuracy, including the absolute 2 mg/L term, against the actual decision range and water matrix. Resolution alone does not qualify the channel.
Not directly for the assembly specified at 12 V +/-5%. Include an appropriate supply arrangement and verify voltage at the equipment under its operating load.
Compare the same channels, mount, cable, power conversion, logger/gateway, required local functions and commissioning/service items. Keep excluded analytical work and recurring costs visible.
Provide the operating points, fresh or saline water, expected parameter ranges and action margins, stock context, access, power and existing controls. Include any required nitrite or other separate analyses rather than assuming they are part of a standard package.
An aquaculture water quality sensor package is comparable only when its measuring channels and installed scope are explicit. Check the configured NiuBoL specifications against the farm's decisions, then compare power, service interruption and included hardware. A complete channel list is more useful than a low price attached to an undefined bundle.
